Ali Larter Embraces a Simpler Life in Idaho

Ali Larter, star of the show “Landman,” shares how her summers in Idaho feel more “simpler” compared to Los Angeles. At the Newport Beach TV Fest, she spoke with Fox News Digital about her life since moving to Sun Valley, Idaho, in 2020.

Larter said her summers now are “totally different.” “We can’t really get our kids to hike anymore, but I can get them to bike and enjoy a cold plunge in the river,” she said. Larter and her family love barbecuing at home, playing with their dogs, and spending time outdoors. With long days extending almost until 10 PM, she appreciates the beauty of having her children at home during summer.

Larter and her husband, Hayes MacArthur, share two children: Teddy, 15, and Vivienne, 11. She recounted a pivotal moment during the COVID-19 lockdown when they decided to embrace Idaho life. Initially planning to stay for two months, they realized the benefits when their daughter’s California school remained closed. They enrolled her in kindergarten there, valuing the interaction with other kids and community experiences.

The family returned to Los Angeles for the summer but noticed the demands on L.A. actors. Larter explained that actors often face expectations to attend auditions, parties, and charity events. Despite loving L.A., her desire for a family-centered lifestyle led her back to Idaho.

Larter plays Angela, Billy Bob Thornton’s ex-wife, in “Landman.” Speaking at the Newport Beach TV Fest, she described Angela as a “wildcat,” expressing a wish to channel that energy more in her daily life.
