San Francisco: Patrice Bratcher faced challenges when searching for a new apartment due to her health concerns following multiple surgeries. Her conditions required an elevator in her dwelling as an imperative feature. However, apartments with elevators were not abundant, making her search difficult.
“Elevators are crucial for individuals with mobility issues,” Bratcher explained. “Finding an accessible apartment was a daunting task.”
Some experts propose the introduction of smaller, cost-effective elevators as a solution, potentially leading to increased apartment construction. This could provide more options for residents in need of accessible housing.
