Orgeron’s Impact on LSU’s Recruiting Strategy

4 weeks ago 0

Recently, LSU made a strategic move by adding former head coach Ed Orgeron to Lane Kiffin’s coaching staff. This move aimed to strengthen their recruiting efforts, a previous weak point for the team. Results are already evident as Orgeron quickly boosted LSU’s presence on the recruiting scene.

Orgeron wasted no time after joining the Tigers. He secured both an in-person and official visit from Jalen Brewster, the top-ranked recruit and five-star defensive tackle. Prior to Orgeron’s intervention, Brewster seemed set to choose between Texas Tech and the Florida Gators. In a brief two-week period, Orgeron’s influence positioned LSU as a prominent contender for Brewster’s commitment.

Videos from Brewster’s visit in Louisiana show him enjoying his time with Orgeron, which may worry Texas Tech fans. But the Tigers’ recruitment reach doesn’t stop there.

Easton Royal, a five-star wide receiver and Texas commit from New Orleans, also visited LSU. He was considered a flight risk for the Longhorns, with LSU being a probable alternative, especially now with Orgeron’s involvement.

This recruitment weekend showcases two elite athletes, enhancing LSU’s prospects for forming a remarkable 2027 class. LSU currently has five pledged commitments, all blue-chip recruits, including two five-star prospects.

Adding Brewster and Royal would solidify LSU’s recruiting class as top-tier. This feared scenario became a reality for SEC fans when Kiffin joined as LSU’s head coach and brought Orgeron aboard. Critics were skeptical when suggesting Orgeron’s hire would make LSU a formidable contender in recruitment. Now, LSU appears poised to be a major player in the talent acquisition arena.
