The Baltimore Ravens shocked the NFL world by agreeing to trade two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for standout edge-rusher Maxx Crosby. However, the excitement waned when the Ravens backed out of the deal after Crosby failed his physical.
Following the reversal, Baltimore signed Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 million contract. This move appeared to many as an effort to maintain their reputation after the aborted trade.
The initial trade discussions emerged after Crosby requested a trade earlier in the offseason. Despite expectations of lingering tension between Crosby and the Raiders, NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported otherwise.
Crosby is diligently working on his own and skipping the Raiders’ offseason practices. League sources indicate he remains committed to his recovery, making significant progress.
La Canfora noted that Crosby is motivated for a stellar season despite the public fallout from the Ravens’ withdrawal. He believed he wouldn’t be fully ready for May Organized Team Activity practices.
Many anticipated the Raiders might pursue another trade due to Crosby’s wish to leave. However, consensus now suggests Crosby will complete his four-year, $116 million contract with the Raiders, which includes a possible exit after the 2027 season.
“He’s going to start the season there, and he’ll probably play his [expletive] off,” an anonymous NFL GM told La Canfora. “They might get some calls (before the deadline), but I don’t think he’s getting moved now. I kind of think that ship has sailed.”
