Jazz Legend Sonny Rollins Passes Away at 95

Sonny Rollins, a celebrated tenor saxophonist recognized as one of America’s leading jazz musicians, passed away on May 25 at his residence in Woodstock, New York. He was 95.

Rollins, known as the “saxophone colossus,” was appreciated for his musical eloquence and creativity. His career spanned six decades, during which he embraced both tradition and innovation in jazz.

His death was confirmed by his publicist, Terri Hinte, through a statement. Rollins had retired from performing over ten years ago, following a diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis.
