Trump Warns Iran Amid Stalled Diplomacy and Drone Attacks

1 month ago 0

President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran as tensions escalate with stalled diplomatic efforts and recent drone attacks in the Gulf, stirring fears of potential conflict. Trump stated on Truth Social that Iran must “get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left,” drawing attention to the escalating situation. Talks aiming to resolve the ongoing conflict, address Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and reinstate stability through the Strait of Hormuz have seen little advancement recently.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei responded to Trump’s comments, highlighting Iran’s stance of not being “intimidated” and stating that negotiations are still progressing. According to Baghaei, Iran has addressed its concerns to the U.S. following a new proposal. He noted, “Our concerns were conveyed to the American side.”

The warning from Trump coincided with his conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, though the White House did not confirm their call. Additionally, this warning came amidst reports of a United Arab Emirates (UAE) drone strike, described as an “unprovoked terrorist attack,” causing a fire at a nuclear plant without compromising its safety.

The UAE refrained from naming a perpetrator, but tensions with Iran have been high, with past accusations directed at Tehran for similar incidents. This latest attack drew condemnation from nations, including mediator Pakistan.

During discussions with Axios, Trump emphasized the need for a better deal from Iran to halt its nuclear program, signaling potential intensified action from the U.S. without specifying a negotiation deadline. Mentioning Iran’s eagerness to sign an agreement, Trump expressed frustration over inconsistent Iranian documents compared to initial settlements.

Senator Lindsey Graham echoed Trump’s tougher stance, calling for increased U.S. military engagement against Iran. The prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz, critical for global resources, presses concerns as efforts to finalize a deal persist. Global markets are feeling the pressure with rising oil prices and decreasing commercial oil stocks, as indicated by the International Energy Agency.

However, Baghaei reinforced Iran’s preparedness, emphasizing vigilance and readiness to respond to any U.S. actions. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to its nuclear rights under international law, notably the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, suggesting no concessions on nuclear enrichment.
