With five AFC teams tied with five wins this season, the race for the conference’s top seed remains tight. Green Bay Packers star edge rusher Micah Parsons believes that a non-division-leading team will secure the No. 1 spot. According to Parsons, the Cincinnati Bengals, despite not leading their division, have the potential to top the AFC standings.
In Week 7, the Bengals showcased their strength by defeating the Baltimore Ravens with a 35-13 victory. The Bengals currently hold a 4-2 record after losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite these setbacks, Parsons remains confident in their capabilities.
I’m gonna say Bengals. They have pretty much been the most consistent. They have so many answers. Tee (Higgins) is playing crazy this year. If he stays healthy and he is playing like that with Ja’Marr (Chase)… Tee Higgins has been low-key going over 100 yards a couple games. You are going to have to start respecting that. Yeah, Ja’Marr’s numbers may not be as high because Tee has been snapping. They have been shifting to Ja’Marr and allowing Tee to go off. That’s great for the Bengals. What people are not talking about is this Bengals defense is playing great. It’s not the same Bengals.
The defensive stats support Parsons’ claim that the Bengals are one of the more balanced teams in the league. They are among three NFL teams, joined by the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers, that rank in the top ten for points scored and fewest points allowed.
Parsons sees them as strong contenders, especially with Joe Burrow at the helm. Burrow currently holds the highest completion percentage among quarterbacks who have started all games, at 71.7 percent, and ranks second with 15 passing touchdowns. The Bengals aim to extend their winning streak to three by defeating the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
