Kai Trump, aged 19 and President Trump’s eldest grandchild, has successfully undergone wrist surgery following a golf-related injury. She shared the update with her followers on Instagram, posting a selfie from her hospital bed with her left arm in a cast and sling.
In her statement, Trump explained that the injury occurred during her first tournament of the season. As a dedicated golfer on the University of Miami women’s golf team, she made the decision to undergo surgery after consulting with her family, coaches, and athletic training staff.
Trump expressed, “While I had hoped to avoid surgery, after talks with my family, coaches, and athletic training staff, I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love.” She acknowledged that the journey may not have gone as planned but emphasized her readiness to embrace it with patience and determination.
The young athlete also highlighted the importance of her support system, stating, “Having the right people by your side makes all the difference, and I couldn’t be more grateful.” She thanked the doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City for their care and her teammates, coaches, and family for their unwavering support.
“A special thank you to Dr. Carlson and the incredible team at HSS in New York for taking such great care of me, and to my teammates, coaches, family, and everyone who has supported me along the way,” Kai Trump said.
Trump is now focused on healing and is eager to return to her team. She conveyed her enthusiasm by stating, “For now, it’s all about healing and trusting the process. I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love. I’ll be back before you know it, stronger and more grateful than ever! Go Canes!”
Earlier in an interview in July, Trump shared her feelings of nervousness about starting her freshman year and playing Division I golf at the University of Miami. She revealed her family’s influence on her competitive spirit, mentioning how her mother and President Trump have played a role in shaping her drive.
Kai Trump remains determined to overcome this setback and return to the golf course with renewed strength and gratitude.
