The lightsaber used by the character Darth Vader in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ is set for auction. The renowned prop, featured in the pivotal scene where Vader reveals to Luke Skywalker, “I am your father,” is predicted to command a price of at least $1 million. Heritage Auctions will conduct this ‘Ultimate Star Wars Auction’ on November 12.
Apart from Vader’s lightsaber, more than twenty lightsaber props will be available. These include those wielded by actors Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ Each of these is anticipated to sell for at least $10,000.
Another notable item is the EE-3 carbine blaster used by the antagonist Boba Fett in ‘The Empire Strikes Back.’ This prop is estimated to exceed $100,000 in value.
The auction also features a Hero Rebel DH-17 Pistol, used by Rebel Alliance troops in ‘The Empire Strikes Back,’ expected to fetch over $10,000. Additionally, a Yoda puppet hand from the original film, operated by Frank Oz, C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels’ signed third-draft screenplay from the original 1977 ‘Star Wars,’ and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ will be available to bidders.
Also included is a miniature snowspeeder, once part of Carrie Fisher’s personal collection and used during filming, which could sell for more than $10,000.
Previously, a lightsaber with Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ achieved a record-breaking sale, fetching $3.75 million, marking the highest price for any ‘Star Wars’ film prop, according to auction details.
