The co-pilot of FlyDubai Flight 1073 attempted a dangerous act aimed at taking control of the aircraft during its route from Dubai to Tel Aviv. This incident has been described as an attempted terrorist act by UAE officials.
According to UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, the co-pilot attacked the captain using a crash ax inside the cockpit of the aircraft. This attack occurred during the flight, which was carrying Israeli passengers who had previously been on another FlyDubai aircraft that required an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.
The attempted hijacking took place as the plane approached Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv. UAE officials released details through a statement on Saturday, disseminated by the official Emirates News Agency, emphasizing the severity and intention behind the co-pilot’s actions.
This incident has raised significant concern about aviation security and highlighted the potential risks faced by passengers and crew during flights. Authorities are expected to conduct thorough investigations and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
“Take control of the aircraft” and carry out a “terrorist act,” UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi.
