Trump’s Economy Approval Rating Among Women Hits New Low

President Donald Trump’s approval rating on economic matters among women has reached its lowest point. A CBS News Battleground Tracker poll shows just over a quarter of women approve of his economic management. This decline occurs as Trump and Republican candidates aim to hold congressional majorities in the upcoming November midterms.

The poll, conducted from September 8 to 11 with 2,460 U.S. adults, highlights Trump’s effort to make himself a campaign focal point. At a recent Republican midterm convention in Dallas, he told supporters, “Pretend that I’m on the ballot. I’m on the ballot, just one more time.”

The economy remains a critical issue for U.S. voters. Trump often claims his administration’s policies have improved Americans’ financial conditions. However, the drop in support among women poses a challenge. Women tend to favor Democratic candidates as evidenced by a Pew Research Center survey indicating that 52 percent of women lean Democrat compared to 38 percent Republican.

“Declining confidence in his management of the economy and inflation could present challenges for Republicans in competitive House and Senate races,” experts say.

The upcoming elections will decide all 435 House seats and 33 Senate seats. Losing control of these chambers could significantly impact Trump’s presidency.

The poll also found that Trump’s approval rating among women has continued to decline. In the latest survey, 33 percent of female respondents approved of his overall job performance while 67 percent disapproved. This represents a decrease from a previous CBS News poll conducted in late July.

Understanding Trump’s Approval Rating

CNN’s Poll of Polls reports Trump’s approval at 35 percent with a 63 percent disapproval. This combines six national surveys of adults conducted from July 22 to August 31.

RealClearPolling offers slightly different figures, showing a 39.5 percent approval rating for Trump from August 16 to September 8. Despite being higher than CNN’s average, it still indicates significant challenges as midterms approach.

The White House’s Stance on Polls

The White House often dismisses low approval rating polls. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle emphasized that nearly 80 million Americans voted for Trump, giving him a mandate to pursue his agenda. He stated, “No other President in history has accomplished more for the American people than President Trump.”

Ingle also highlighted Trump’s efforts to create jobs, reduce inflation, and increase housing affordability.
