Former President Donald Trump achieved a notable win in New Hampshire, where his supported candidate secured victory in the Republican primary for one of the state’s key congressional districts. Businessman Anthony DiLorenzo emerged victorious against Hollie Noveletsky, owner of Novel Iron Works, and state Representative Brian Cole to clinch the Republican nomination for New Hampshire’s 1st U.S. House district.
The 1st U.S. House district, currently represented by Democrat Chris Pappas, has become a significant focus. Pappas is transitioning to a Senate run, making the seat more competitive. The Cook Partisan Voting Index rates the district as having a slight Democratic lean, marked as D+2.
Covering the southern region of New Hampshire, the 1st district includes Manchester, the most populous city. Notably, former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt unsuccessfully ran for this seat, losing to Pappas by less than 10%.
During recent debates, the Republican primary candidates largely agreed on many issues. Nevertheless, DiLorenzo faced scrutiny during a debate hosted by WMUR. Rivals Noveletsky and Cole challenged him on his previous comments regarding illegal immigration, specifically advocating for prioritizing the deportation of felons and violent criminals.
Unlike Anthony, who is on record on Granite Discourse saying that if somebody came here illegally and was working that they should have a path, I disagree,” Noveletsky said during the debate.
DiLorenzo defended his stance, emphasizing his support for law enforcement and the deportation of individuals who pose threats, such as criminals and traffickers. His alignment with these views earned him endorsements from several major political figures, including Trump himself, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and Majority Whip Tom Emmer.
Trump, in endorsing DiLorenzo via Truth Social, highlighted his business acumen and commitment to America First policies that focus on creating jobs and boosting the country’s energy and economic dominance.
Despite this, Noveletsky garnered endorsements from several state officials and House Rules Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx. The political landscape continues to shift, as Trump’s influence is tested in New Hampshire and Kentucky races.
