Patrick Mahomes Sr. Seeks Permission to Attend Son’s Games

Patrick Mahomes Sr., currently on probation after admitting to driving while intoxicated, has submitted a legal motion to attend his son Patrick Mahomes’ games this season. The motion was filed in the 7th District Court in Tyler, Texas. Mahomes Sr. seeks permission to travel to watch seven games in Kansas City, Missouri, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cincinnati, Ohio.

The request acknowledges that he must undergo urinalysis testing before and after each trip and report to a supervising officer upon each departure.

Probation Violation and Requirements

After pleading guilty to intoxicated driving in 2024, Mahomes Sr. received a five-year probation sentence. His probation was extended by two years after a February 2026 arrest for consuming alcohol, which violated the terms of his sentence.

Mahomes Sr.’s motion indicates he completed 16 weeks of outpatient treatment, 160 hours of community service, and is compliant with all probation conditions. He is also monitored by an ankle device, all of which are verified by a Smith County community supervision officer.

Efforts to obtain comments from Mahomes Sr.’s attorney and representatives were unsuccessful.

Upcoming Season and Mahomes’ Recovery

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to begin their season against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. Though not officially confirmed, Patrick Mahomes is expected to start. He’s recovering from a December surgery to repair torn knee ligaments, yet he has participated fully with the first team in training camp.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid expressed confidence in Mahomes’ readiness, indicating that training sessions remain a focus on competitive play.
