A recent shooting at a gay bar in Tucson, Arizona, is under investigation as a hate crime. Authorities have indicated that the suspect, Ousman Ceesay, 44, was found with a note listing several LGBTQIA+-associated businesses.
The incident occurred just after 12:30 a.m. on Monday in the parking lot of Venture-N. The Tucson Police Department reported that Ceesay shot two people at the scene. Officers arrived to find three men with gunshot wounds.
The victims, Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33, were declared dead at the scene. Ceesay was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Initial evidence indicates that Ceesay confronted the victims before opening fire. The police department has assured the community that there is no known active threat at this time. However, they have increased police presence around other LGBTQIA+ businesses in the vicinity.
