Meghan Markle’s Potential Return to Acting

Meghan Markle is once again in talks about returning to acting with a role in Guy Ritchie’s series, “The Gentlemen.” Despite previous reports that the deal fell through, People magazine states that discussions are ongoing. However, no agreement has been reached yet.

Kinsey Schofield, host of “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered” on YouTube, questions what this return means for the various attempts Meghan has made to reshape her identity after leaving the royal life. Schofield lists her as a podcaster, producer, lifestyle entrepreneur, philanthropist, and media mogul.

However, returning to acting might indicate that Meghan’s most sustainable professional identity could be the one she originally left.

The discussions are at an initial phase, says Deadline, and it’s not clear how many episodes she would participate in. The series features talents like Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, and Giancarlo Esposito, is set in England, and is filmed in the UK.

In 2025, Meghan had a cameo portraying herself in “Close Personal Friends,” an upcoming comedy with Brie Larson and Lily Collins, among others. Yet, “The Gentlemen” could signify a substantial return to scripted roles since her departure from “Suits.”

“This fresh attempt might highlight her enduring struggle to find a lasting identity,” says Doug Eldridge, founder of Achilles PR. “Meghan has explored various career paths, but nothing has firmly taken root.”

Meghan played Rachel Zane in “Suits” before marrying Prince Harry of Britain. A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry confirmed their extended stay in the UK in autumn to enable their children to connect with the country, although their business base remains in the US.

Despite the rumored move to the UK, the couple will continue holding their home in California.

Schofield expresses doubt whether producers are eager to welcome Meghan back. Though Meghan has name recognition and a Netflix relationship, Schofield remains skeptical about her Hollywood comeback.

“The Gentlemen” is an established successful series that Meghan doesn’t have to shoulder alone. But she needs to excel in performing roles without the scenes becoming an exploration of her real-life persona.

Meghan once responded to Variety that she intended to leave acting behind, though she didn’t absolutely rule it out.

Since stepping back as a senior royal, Meghan has engaged in various ventures. Her Spotify podcast “Archetypes” ended after one season. Her animated series “Pearl” on Netflix was canceled before production. Originally launched as American Riviera Orchard, her lifestyle brand faced a long rollout before rebranding as As Ever. In 2026, it was announced that her lifestyle series, “With Love, Meghan,” would continue as seasonal specials.

Dan Wakeford, founder of Celebrity Intelligence, highlights that returning to acting might have benefits, given Meghan’s previous struggles with other ventures.

“Finding an exceptional script might be wise,” he said. “She could explore roles that challenge expectations beyond royal ties, similar to Demi Moore’s career choices.”

Meghan embarked on her Hollywood career appearing in minor roles on TV shows before being a regular on “Suits.” Following her engagement, she completed filming her final “Suits” scenes in 2017, airing in 2018.

Schofield concludes that acting makes logical sense for Meghan because of her legitimate experience and previous success.

Despite public scrutiny in Britain, Meghan has consistently drawn global attention, dubbed the “Markle Sparkle.” Whether love or hate, people will tune in to see if she still shines as an actress. From a publicity angle, producers might see potential value, but the real challenge is maintaining a sustainable career beyond an initial spectacle.
