Food Safety Alert: Alfalfa Sprouts Contamination

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has alerted the public about potentially contaminated alfalfa sprouts. This announcement specifically affects residents of Minnesota and Wisconsin among others.

According to the CDC, 55 individuals across 15 states have become ill due to salmonella or E. coli associated with alfalfa sprouts. Minnesota and Wisconsin report the highest number of cases.

Four individuals needed hospitalization as a result of these illnesses. Consumers are advised to avoid alfalfa sprouts until further notice.
