The match, held in Harrison, N.J., saw a dramatic turn when Harper subbed in for Julian Hall in the 85th minute, scoring just a minute later with the help of assists from Eric Maxim-Choupo and Omar Valencia. This marked Harper’s first goal in his fourth appearance of the season.
Maren Heile-Selassie initially gave the Chicago Fire the lead in the 38th minute. He capitalized on assists from defender Viktor Radojević and Jonathan Bamba to score his fourth goal of the season. This assist was the first for Radojević in his third career start and 10th appearance.
Chris Brady was a pivotal player for the Fire, saving five shots and helping the team stretch their MLS unbeaten streak to four matches. The team had achieved six consecutive wins across all competitions for the first time since their inaugural season in 1998. On the defensive end for the Red Bulls, Ethan Horvath contributed four saves, helping the team break a two-match losing streak.
The Chicago Fire are set to continue their season with a match against the Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
