The initial preseason games for NFL betting did not go as planned. I recorded one win with two losses. Notably, I misjudged the Packers and Steelers game, where the Packers scored just nine points. The Cardinals and Raiders delivered more excitement, but my over bet fell short by half a point, landing exactly at 41 instead of surpassing 41.5. Despite the disappointing start, I am looking ahead to more engaging matchups.

Rams vs. Chiefs Preview

While a Rams vs. Chiefs clash during the regular season would be thrilling, we are now limited to following their preseason performances. Matthew Stafford is unlikely to participate in this game or any preseason contest, aside from possibly the third or fourth game. Similarly, Patrick Mahomes won’t be playing, leaving the field to backup players.

The Rams’ quarterback scene features Stetson Bennett and Ty Simpson, both vying for the backup role and likely to perform well. Justin Fields, now the Chiefs backup, could provide exciting play under Andy Reid’s guidance. Expect him to appear for at least one quarter. I am backing the Rams with an over 16.5 points bet due to their motivated quarterbacks and scoring options.

Panthers vs. Bills Preview

Although last year’s Super Bowl didn’t include these teams, both the Panthers and Bills made the playoffs but faced losses. Now they meet again in the preseason. This game marks the Bills’ inaugural contest in their new stadium, potentially providing them with extra motivation.

The Panthers’ previous game saw Haynes King throwing 34 passes, along with 11 from Kenny Pickett, and a total of 22 rushing attempts. Expect a possible continuation of this style, leading to a higher score. If Bryce Young joins for a drive, he might add to the scoring.

For the Bills, Josh Allen plans to play for a series or two, partly due to the new stadium and his desire for practice alongside DJ Moore. However, I lack confidence in Kyle Allen or Shane Buechele’s ability to lead effectively.

I am picking the Panthers with the points and considering a moneyline sprinkle. The Panthers’ backups are likely better prepared for game speed than the Bills.
