Republican Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas has voiced strong concerns regarding Dr. Anthony Fauci’s recently uncovered text messages about COVID-19 vaccines. Senator Marshall has criticized Dr. Fauci for advocating vaccines for pregnant women while expressing private concerns about potential risks of miscarriage.
These text messages have intensified scrutiny over Dr. Fauci’s role during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Senate Health Committee has taken steps to refer Dr. Fauci to the Justice Department for investigation. As Marshall stated on ‘Fox & Friends,’ a special counsel with subpoena power could conduct an independent investigation and prosecute if necessary.
He commented, “All Congress can do is expose the truth or try to expose the truth, which is hard to do when a guy takes the 5th 111 times.” Marshall referred to past instances where he felt Fauci avoided answering crucial questions.
Sen. Marshall, a retired obstetrician, has a history of challenging Dr. Fauci over various pandemic policies and the origins of COVID-19. His latest criticisms focus on text exchanges among Fauci and health officials concerning vaccine safety for pregnant women.
In a January 2021 text, Dr. Fauci wrote about concerns regarding mRNA vaccines for pregnant women. He mentioned that many people experience significant cytokine storms and fever after their second dose. This might theoretically relate to miscarriage during the first trimester.
However, the following month, Dr. Fauci publicly stated no pregnancy-related ‘red flags’ were associated with vaccines. On CBS News, he said, “With thousands of women who are pregnant, having gotten the vaccine following the EUA [emergency use authorization], there have been no red flags of anything that anyone would be worried about.” Later that year, Dr. Fauci emphasized the importance of vaccination for pregnant women due to severe adverse outcomes associated with COVID-19 infections.
