White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt plans to leave her position at the end of August. President Trump announced her departure on Truth Social, stating she will take on a role as a top external adviser. Her decision to leave stems from a desire to spend more time with her family. Leavitt recently welcomed her second child in May and has only just returned to her duties at the White House.
President Trump expressed his respect for her decision, saying, “Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!” He acknowledged her upcoming role: “Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections.”
Leavitt has been a significant figure in the White House since 2018, contributing to major campaigns and initiatives. She served during the president’s second term and played a vital role in the 2024 re-election campaign.
“Karoline has been a real leader in the White House, and has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom.”
It remains unclear who will succeed Leavitt as the next Press Secretary or who will fill the role temporarily. Leavitt expressed her reasons for departing in a personal statement: “The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary.” She will continue as an adviser to President Trump and advocate for the MAGA movement, highlighting her commitment to the Republican Party.
