Indiana Fever Shines in Win Over New York Liberty

Before the game on Tuesday night, Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White captured attention with a strong statement. However, once the game began, her team took over. Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell delivered a stellar performance, scoring 20 of her 28 points in the first half. Her teammate Caitlin Clark contributed significantly with 22 points and 10 assists. This led Indiana to a commanding 106-92 victory over the New York Liberty, marking their seventh win in nine games.

Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark Lead the Way

Mitchell excelled by making 11 of her 16 shots, including four successful three-pointers. Clark also impressed with four three-pointers. Sophie Cunningham ended the game with 12 points. Aliyah Boston added to the team’s success with 19 points and seven rebounds.

From the opposing side, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu each scored 19 points for the Liberty. Jonquel Jones contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds.

When Indiana’s outside shooting stumbled in the third quarter, New York took advantage and narrowed the gap to 66-57. Then, Indiana responded quickly. Mitchell’s three-point play and Cunningham’s crucial three-pointer extended their lead to 87-67 by the end of the period.

Stephanie White Defends Herself and Her Team

Prior to the game, Coach White addressed criticism she faced regarding her handling of DiJonai Carrington’s flagrant foul on Cunningham. White appealed to the public to direct attention toward the game and avoid unnecessary distractions.

The hate, the fearmongering, the divisiveness that’s trying to hijack our league will not win. It won’t win, White asserted passionately. We are united. We are connected. We will not be divided. Every day these women put their ass on the line. Every day when they go low, we go high. Love will win. Grace will win. Humility will win and kindness will win. I stand by them, I will always stand by them. Everybody else can go to hell.

After making these declarations, White exited without taking any questions.
