Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert is supporting her son, Tyler J. Boebert, following his arrest on Sunday. He faces five felony charges related to sexual exploitation of a child in Garfield County, Colorado. The allegations, which reportedly involve an incident from early 2024, have yet to be fully detailed. However, an unredacted affidavit is expected soon.
In a statement to Newsweek, Representative Boebert expressed her love for her son and emphasized the seriousness with which she regards the allegations. She also expressed concern for all individuals involved during this difficult period.
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office conducted the arrest, and Tyler was released post a $10,000 bond. His court appearance is slated for August 19. Previously, his legal affairs were handled by attorney Joseph Gavaldon, who has not yet commented on the recent charges.
This case adds to a series of legal challenges for Tyler. Earlier this year, he was charged with misdemeanor child abuse after a separate incident involving his 2-year-old son escaping unsupervised. At that time, Lauren Boebert acknowledged her son’s continuous public struggles, remarking on his previous arrests related to vehicle and credit card thefts. Tyler eventually pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft and was placed on probation.
Lauren Boebert, now in her third term representing Colorado’s 4th congressional district, is the mother of four boys: Tyler, Brody, Kayden, and Roman. She became a grandmother in 2023 with the birth of Tyler’s son. Boebert’s marital status changed in late 2023 as she divorced her husband, Jayson, after 17 years of marriage.
