Minnesota Seeks Extradition of Federal Officer for Assault Charges

1 day ago 0

Christian Castro is accused of four counts of second-degree assault following an incident involving a Venezuelan immigrant in January.

On August 6, 2026, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty made a request to Texas Governor Greg Abbott to authorize the extradition of an ICE officer to Minnesota. This request follows a shooting incident in Minneapolis earlier this year.

Moriarty stated that obtaining Abbott’s approval would be the final step in transferring officer Castro to Minnesota. The goal is to have him face state criminal charges for the January incident.
