Denise Richards Discusses Relationship with Charlie Sheen and Daughter Sami

Denise Richards recently shared her thoughts about her daughter Sami Sheen and her ex-husband Charlie Sheen during an appearance on Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast. Richards expressed agreement with Bunnie’s view that Sami is a form of “karma” for Charlie.

Richards described her relationship with Charlie and explained that she encourages her daughters to have their own interactions with him as they grow older. Bunnie commented, “I feel like she’s kind of Charlie’s karma in a way,” to which Richards replied, “You don’t have to cut it out,” referring to the podcast recording. Richards appreciates Sami’s assertiveness and mentioned, “Out of all the kids, I feel she stands up to him the most. He does need it.”

Denise admitted she admires Sami’s confidence, although she sometimes wishes Sami filtered her words. These insights reveal a closer look at Sami’s personality, which Denise appreciates despite occasional bluntness.

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen were married from 2002 to 2006. They have two daughters, Sami, born in 2004, and Lola, born in 2005. While Sami, 22, is a model on OnlyFans, Lola, 21, focuses on expressing her faith online. Denise noted their differences, mentioning how they do not resemble each other and jokingly remarked, “Looks like I was with the milkman or something.”

Richards explained that raising her daughters required shielding them from aspects of her and Charlie’s past. She expressed a desire for her daughters to build their own understanding by talking to Charlie about their childhood experiences.

Their relationship, although challenged during their public divorce and Charlie’s struggles with substance abuse, has improved in recent years. Denise emphasized the importance of her daughters having a relationship with their father, despite the public issues surrounding him. She never spoke negatively about him in their presence. “I wanted the girls to have their relationship with him without, you know, any negativity around it,” she stated.

Two decades after their divorce, Denise and Charlie are on better terms, enabling them to joke and communicate effectively. “He respects me and I respect him too,” Richards said, emphasizing the priority of maintaining their relationship for the sake of their daughters.
