Controversial Comments Stir Heated Debate Between Piers Morgan and Cornell Student

Piers Morgan engaged in a tense discussion with Austin Franco, a student from Cornell University, over Franco’s refusal to apologize for making derogatory comments about working for Jewish individuals. This conversation arose when Franco rejected an internship with New York City startup VryfID, co-founded by Gabe and Aiden Einhorn, with a controversial statement about their religious background.

Franco’s comment, “Not interested in working for a Jew. Thanks,” was widely criticized. During an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Morgan expressed disbelief at Franco’s lack of remorse for his statement. Morgan noted that if Franco had apologized, the situation might be different, but Franco stood by his words.

Franco defended himself, denying any antisemitic intent by citing past relationships with Jewish individuals and attributing his views to negative experiences at Cornell University and Virginia Tech. Morgan remained unconvinced, questioning Franco’s education and awareness.

Franco further criticized Israel, accusing it of being “genocidal” and linking his stance to geopolitical views. Morgan countered by challenging Franco’s inconsistency, noting that Franco did not similarly reject association with Americans despite objecting to certain U.S. policies.

Morgan concluded the exchange by expressing disappointment in Franco’s stance and decisions, warning that Franco’s own actions were making him unemployable. Cornell University responded to the controversy with a statement condemning antisemitism and revealing an investigation by its Office of Civil Rights.

“Federal privacy law prohibits Cornell from disclosing specific information regarding our students. Despite the seriousness with which we take this matter, we are not able to make any further comment regarding the actions of this student or any public statement of the university’s response,” stated university president Michael I. Kotlikoff.

Following his television appearance, Franco announced that his parents have decided to evict him due to his views, effective August 1. He shared his resolve to continue down this path, despite the challenges it presents.

Franco expressed a sense of conviction in his choices, stating, “I do not regret anything I have done. If I were to die today, I would at least know that I did so believing in myself.”
