1 week ago 0

Timothy Olyphant demonstrated his unique approach to technology during a recent appearance on the “SmartLess” podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes. The 58-year-old actor revealed the steps he undertook to join the interview.

Olyphant first attempted to resurrect an old desktop computer, highlighting his minimal reliance on technology. Without owning a suitable device, he resorted to borrowing a friend’s office workspace, saying, “I needed a computer. I guess you can’t do your show if you don’t own a computer.”

Despite the hosts pressing for details, Olyphant reaffirmed his aversion to modern electronic gadgets. He asserted that a phone sufficed for his needs, explaining, “I got like a, you know, I got a phone and I got a thing. That’s all you gotta do.”

Even with an old desktop gathering dust at home, Olyphant detailed the effort of getting it operational. “We went… I had a… we went and got out an old desktop computer that we still have in the house and plugged it in and started it up, and they were all USB things,” he shared.

Reflecting on the process, Olyphant joked about the level of effort involved, saying, “There’s a lot of sacrifices that went into this, guys.” Nevertheless, he expressed his appreciation for the opportunity, admitting he enjoyed the show, albeit through transcripts.

The conversation continued as Bateman questioned Olyphant on his reluctance to explore modern technology further. “But wait, but Tim, you’ve never been tempted to buy a laptop or a desktop just to see the landscape out there?” Bateman asked. Olyphant simply replied, “Felt condescending.”

The discussion shifted to artificial intelligence, but Olyphant remained firm in his stance, noting that even AI capabilities are accessible with phones: “But you can do all that on… on the little phones,” he emphasized.

Timothy Olyphant is recognized for his performances in numerous film and TV roles, with his breakthrough in “Go” (1999) and later successes like “Deadwood” and “Justified.” Other notable works include “Santa Clarita Diet” and appearances in “The Mandalorian” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
