Boston Red Sox Achieve 15-Game Winning Streak

The Boston Red Sox have achieved a remarkable milestone, winning 15 consecutive games. This equals the streak set in 1946 when Ted Williams led the team to an American League championship.

On a triumphant Wednesday, the Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 in the first game of a doubleheader. Interim manager Chad Tracy commented on the occasion, acknowledging the historical significance of such an achievement. “It’s cool that they’ve accomplished something great,” he noted.

After the game, the team lingered on the field, celebrating the victory with The Standells’ “Dirty Water” playing, a Fenway Park tradition. The camaraderie extended into the locker room as well. “Oh, yeah, absolutely between the staff. We were realizing the guys were going crazy in the locker room — they always do — but even more emphasis right now with what we’re going through,” Tracy noted.

Earlier in the season, Boston faced challenges, parting ways with manager Alex Cora and dealing with a 10-17 start. By July 1, they were last in the AL East with a 37-48 record. However, under Tracy, they haven’t lost a game since.

Tracy holds the distinction of being the first manager since the 19th century to lead a team to a 15-game winning streak without starting the season in the role. In the game against Baltimore, Boston took an early 4-0 lead, with pitcher Jake Bennett holding the Orioles to three runs over 5 2/3 innings.

Caleb Durbin, who hit a critical homer in a previous win over Baltimore, reflected on the game. “I think in the seventh inning I’m counting them down a little bit,” Durbin said with a smile.

At the game’s end, left fielder Jarren Duran enjoyed the enthusiastic crowd, sharing the moment with his fellow outfielders. “When I get to go see them, I take a look around and I get to enjoy that moment, that’s always fun,” he said.

Reflecting on the significance of the streak for the storied franchise, Durbin remarked, “You look back at it and think about where you’re doing it and how long this franchise has existed. It’s been incredible.”

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz, a Massachusetts native, paid tribute to the feat. “I mean, a 15-game heater is impressive,” he stated. “You know, it’s tough to win one game in the big leagues and them going 15 straight, it’s really impressive.”
