President Donald Trump will present the FIFA World Cup trophy to the winner of the match between Spain and Argentina on Sunday. A White House official confirmed this to Fox News.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced last month on “Fox & Friends” that both he and Trump would deliver the trophy to the winning team’s captain at New York/New Jersey Stadium.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt noted Trump’s attendance as “a fitting conclusion to a tournament that showcased America’s ability to host the world on the grandest stage.”
Trump participated in the FIFA Club World Cup trophy presentation after Chelsea’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain. Infantino also mentioned that Trump would attend this contest.
Earlier in the tournament, Trump was involved in a controversy regarding Folarin Balogun’s red card. He called Infantino to request a review, leading to Balogun being cleared to participate in Team USA’s Round of 16 match.
During the World Cup, Secretary of State Marco Rubio attended the U.S. Men’s National Team’s opener against Paraguay, witnessing their 4-1 victory.

Trump was awarded the first FIFA Peace Prize at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., during the World Cup final draw.
Recently, Trump attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, while the White House hosted UFC Freedom 250. An IndyCar race is planned for Washington, D.C., next month.
