Firefighters Battle Massive Warehouse Fire in Seattle

Seattle firefighters tackled a significant 3-alarm fire in the city’s Industrial District early Wednesday morning, following a previous fire in the nearby Central District. The fire ignited just before 1 a.m. on the 4500 block of 7th Avenue S, involving two tractor trailers and extending to the warehouse, according to Seattle Fire spokesman David Cuerpo.

During a press conference, Cuerpo explained that officials discovered empty metal and plastic barrels inside one of the trailers and surrounding the building, leading them to extinguish the fire from a safe distance. Crews reported that the warehouse roof partially collapsed at 1:15 a.m., preventing entry into the building.

Firefighters succeeded in putting out the fire around 3:22 a.m. without reporting any injuries. An ongoing investigation is underway to determine further details about the incident. The partial roof collapse forced the crews to fight the fire externally.

This fire occurred after another blaze in a commercial building on Tuesday morning, located about 20 minutes away on the 2700 block of E Madison St. in the Central District. The earlier fire started at 3:22 a.m., and firefighting efforts concluded around 5:30 a.m.

During the press conference, Cuerpo confirmed that the cause of the earlier fire was accidental. No injuries were reported in both incidents.
