In Indiana, a substitute teacher named Cassidy Carter is facing significant legal consequences for her actions involving a middle school student. Carter, who sent nude photos of herself to a 14-year-old boy, has been sentenced to two years in jail.
The sentence, according to WXIX-TV reports, was delivered after Carter pleaded guilty. She faced one count of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. However, she received two days of credit towards her sentence. She had initially been charged with child solicitation. This charge was modified after the victim moved away and chose not to participate further in the case, as explained by Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens.
Carter was 21 when she sent the illicit content to the student. At that time, she was employed by South Dearborn Community School Corporation as a substitute teacher. The situation came to light when the student reported the incident to a school resource officer in December 2023, who then informed the principal.
The investigation revealed that Carter had developed a Snapchat connection with the teen. On this platform, she sent him nude photos after her showers, often late at night. Alarmingly, she also confessed feelings of love for the student.
Authorities retrieved the incriminating images and multiple messages from Carter’s phone, which corroborated the student’s report.
