A post-game celebration at BMO Stadium turned chaotic when fireworks misfired during Angel City FC’s face-off with Orlando Pride. With a triumphant 2-0 win marking their return from a monthlong pause, the match concluded with unexpected drama.

Initially intended to delight, the fireworks display startled attendees as flares veered into the stands. Footage reveals showers of sparks and thick smoke engulfing the pitch, as fireworks erupted vertically. Without warning, the finale saw several rockets defying their course, launching horizontally toward spectators.

Jade Greenhut, a season ticket holder present at the event, caught the startling moment from her seat. She began filming when a rogue firework threatened the Angel City team bench. Her recording features her stunned expression and a woman’s voice exclaiming in shock as fireworks streaked toward the audience.

A spokesperson for the soccer club reported no serious injuries linked to the malfunctioning pyrotechnics. Stephanie Rudnick, the communication head, clarified that a third-party vendor managed the fireworks. She stated, “A malfunction did occur during the post-match celebration at Angel City’s game versus Orlando at BMO Stadium.” Rudnick assured that medical and safety teams responded promptly, enabling safe departure for all attendees.

The organization promised to investigate the incident alongside their pyrotechnics vendor to determine subsequent actions.

Greenhut observed that a significant number of spectators had exited due to the 20-minute gap between the match’s end and the fireworks. This resulted in lesser density in the stands, minimizing risk. Upon evacuation, her ticket ambassador extended an apology and mentioned previous successful shows for the Los Angeles Football Club.

Greenhut commented on the experience, expressing appreciation for the game’s performance and suggesting the possible use of drones for future events.
