FBI’s Cross-Agency Operation Yields Hundreds of Arrests in Chicago

The FBI recently led a significant multi-agency operation in Chicago, resulting in the arrest of over 300 suspects within 60 days. FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted the comprehensive approach under President Trump’s leadership to target violent crimes and crimes against children.

In an exclusive statement, Patel emphasized the scale of ‘Operation New Dawn,’ which involved 11 federal agencies. The operation resulted in 305 arrests and the recovery of 24 children, many of whom were reported kidnapped or missing. Suspects faced charges related to robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and child exploitation.

This initiative is part of ongoing efforts such as Summer Heat 2.0, demonstrating that the FBI, in collaboration with partners and led by Attorney General Todd Blanche, is determined to dismantle criminal networks across the nation.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois reported that agencies like the FBI, DEA, ATF, and HSI played crucial roles in this operation. All 11 agencies worked together, symbolically under the United States flag, to combat various crimes including gun trafficking and immigration violations.

U.S. Attorney Andrew S. Boutros expressed that the operation represented a new era of law enforcement in the U.S. He stated that federal law enforcement must rapidly adapt to fight violence effectively, pointing to the success of this collaborative operation in making Chicago safer.

‘Law enforcement has always been a team sport,’ said ATF Special Agent Christopher Amon. He noted the trust and collaboration among Chicago’s federal law enforcement partners as crucial for the operation’s success.

The operation resulted in the arrest of notorious criminals, including Felipe Dejesus Gomez Ramirez, a convicted murderer and illegal alien. Other key arrests included members of Chicago’s Traveling Vice Lords gang, such as David Collins and Tyrone Thomas. The two were charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl.

This coordinated effort underscores the interconnected threats of violent crime and drug trafficking. DEA Special Agent Todd C. Smith highlighted the collaborative use of intelligence and resources among federal, state, and local agencies to enhance public safety. The operation resulted in significant drug seizures, addressing the overlap between violence and drug trafficking.

Since its launch on May 1, the operation has led to 179 criminal defendants charged in federal court across 140 newly-filed cases. Twenty-four children have been safely returned home, strengthening public safety and commitment to a Fentanyl Free America.
