An American Airlines flight descended into turmoil on Sunday morning when a passenger allegedly bit another traveler and attempted to fight fellow passengers.
The disturbance unfolded as Flight 3046 was nearing Philadelphia International Airport after departing from Charlotte, North Carolina.
An audio recording reviewed by Fox News Digital captured the pilot notifying air traffic control of the troubling situation concerning the unruly passenger. In the recording, the pilot said, “He just bit a passenger, and he’s trying to fight everybody.”
Upon landing, medical personnel and law enforcement met the flight. The crew had requested their presence, suspecting the passenger might have been undergoing a mental health crisis.
The pilot expressed uncertainty about the incident’s cause but suggested the necessity for law enforcement “just as a precaution” to aid EMTs.
Prior to landing, an onboard medical professional assisted the passenger experiencing the medical emergency. American Airlines verified this assistance on Monday, stating, “Medical personnel met American Airlines flight 3046 at the gate for a customer experiencing a medical emergency.” They appreciated the prompt actions of crew members and the medical professional involved.
The audio exchange between the pilot and air traffic control concluded on a lighter note, with the controller wishing the pilot a happy Father’s Day. “What a day, huh?” remarked the pilot, adding, “I’ll be sure to tell my daughters about this one.”
