On Sunday, June 7, 2026, a man tragically drowned in Fort Lauderdale. The incident occurred just after 5 a.m. It was reported near the 200 block at Southwest Second Avenue.
According to witnesses, the man entered the water before the authorities were notified. Fort Lauderdale Police received the emergency call and coordinated efforts with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit to locate the individual.
The man was discovered and quickly transported to Broward Health Medical Center by Fire Rescue personnel. Unfortunately, he passed away at the medical center.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
