Ongoing Efforts in Nancy Guthrie’s Abduction Case

3 weeks ago 0

For eight months, Patty Morin worried her daughter’s killer might never be caught until a detective gave her hopeful news. Two months later, Victor Martinez-Hernandez was arrested. In comparison, 16 weeks into the Nancy Guthrie investigation, Morin conveys a supportive message to another family facing difficult uncertainty.

“Four months and they have nothing shared with us,” said Morin, the mother of Rachel Morin, who was tragically killed on a Maryland running trail. She believes that this does not mean law enforcement lacks information, especially if collaborating with multiple agencies.

Morin’s 37-year-old daughter was murdered by a man who fled from El Salvador, where he was suspected of committing another murder. He allegedly raped a mother and her young daughter during a California home invasion, leaving a trail of DNA. Police eventually captured him in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“I just need to trust the process and have hope,” Morin said, reflecting on the encouragement she received during her daughter’s case investigation.

Meanwhile, Nancy Guthrie’s unsolved abduction has reached four months. Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, has no publicly identified suspects so far. Investigators are handling at least two DNA samples related to the case. Sheriff Chris Nanos indicated that a mixed DNA sample presents a challenge, while a hair sample was transferred to the FBI from a Florida lab last month.

Sources informed Fox News Digital that the FBI is incorporating new technology in the investigation, including a Bluetooth signal detector and the retrieval of surveillance footage from a Nest doorbell camera. A combined reward exceeding $1.2 million is available for information that resolves this case.

Morin encourages others to share any information: “No tip is too small to share, as it can be the piece that completes the puzzle.” Anyone with information should call 1-800-CALL-FBI. Anonymous tips can be made at Tucson’s 88-Crime hotline at 1-520-882-7463.
