Kennedy Center Removes Trump References Following Court Ruling

3 weeks ago 0

The Kennedy Center is in the process of removing references to President Donald Trump after a federal judge ruled that his name was added to the venue illegally. This decision comes after Judge Christopher Cooper blocked Trump’s plans to close the center for a major renovation.

Roma Daravi, the vice president of public relations at the Kennedy Center, announced compliance with the court’s order while exploring legal avenues to honor the revitalization and acknowledge Trump’s leadership. A memo from the Office of General Counsel outlined that all official documents must revert to using “The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts” or simply “Kennedy Center.” These updates must be completed by June 12.

Judge Cooper’s ruling halted the planned renovations set to begin in July. Following the decision, Trump announced his withdrawal from the revamp and plans to return control of the center to Congress. Previously known as the Kennedy Center, Trump intended significant changes during his second term but faced legal challenges.

In response to the ruling, Trump criticized Cooper on social media, expressing frustration over perceived unfair treatment. This court decision was linked to earlier litigations, including the Supreme Court’s rejection of Trump’s tariffs. The removal of Trump’s references represents a setback to his efforts to redesign Washington landmarks.

Meanwhile, Trump’s administration highlighted completed renovations at other locations, like painting the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and demolishing part of the White House East Wing for new constructions. Plans continue for further developments around Washington.
