Chicago police reported the arrest of a 24-year-old man after he critically wounded a 52-year-old man in the New City neighborhood on the South Side. The incident occurred shortly after 2:10 a.m. as the two individuals engaged in an argument outside, located in the 5100 block of South Emerald Avenue. The conflict escalated into a physical altercation, leading the younger man to produce a firearm and discharge it towards the older man, striking him in the head.
The victim was transported to UChicago Medicine, where he remains in critical condition. Authorities have detained the 24-year-old shooter, with charges expected to follow. Police indicated that the shooting appears to be related to a domestic issue.
