Wynonna Judd was surprised to hear what Rosie O’Donnell said about her political beliefs. O’Donnell recently described Judd as a supporter of former President Donald Trump. Judd, a country music star, is now clarifying her stance.
In a conversation with People, Judd expressed her disbelief. “I’m in shock, just so you know,” she told the outlet. “I’ve never spoken to her about politics in my life. … She doesn’t know anything about my stuff. I’m an independent.”
“I don’t know where it came from. It’s complete assumption,” she added. “I heard it and I went, ‘What the …?’ I don’t ever remember talking to her about this, so she’s just assuming.”
Despite her confusion over O’Donnell’s remarks, Judd stressed that she is not angry. Judd clarified that she had never engaged in political discussions with O’Donnell that could lead to such assumptions.
“I just don’t want drama. So, if there’s going to be drama about it, I’m like, ‘Oh for crap’s sake, there’s so much going on right now in the world. Can we just love each other?’” Judd remarked.
O’Donnell shared her views during an appearance on the “The Tangle with Kyle Ridley” podcast. In the podcast, she spoke about her long-standing friendship with Judd, mentioning that politics never entered their conversations.
“I am friends with Wynonna Judd, who I love very much, and I’ve known her for many, many years. And she is a supporter of Trump. And somehow, we never bring it up,” O’Donnell stated.
She elaborated, “I kind of give her a grace in a way. She’s had so much in her life, with her mom taking her own life and just the complicated nature of her upbringing. And I really love her, and I care about her. And, for some reason, I’m able to put that aside when we interact.”
The friendship between O’Donnell and Judd goes back to the 1990s. Judd was a regular guest on O’Donnell’s daytime talk show, and the two remained friends after it ended.
O’Donnell has publicly criticized Trump for years, even moving to Ireland after Trump’s 2016 election victory. She continues to voice her opinions on American politics openly.
Fox News Digital reached out to O’Donnell for further comments on her statements regarding Judd.
