WNBA Players NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carrington Clash Over Cheating Allegations

Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith addressed cheating allegations via a livestream, following accusations from her ex-girlfriend DiJonai Carrington. Carrington claimed Smith was involved in a cheating scandal with multiple players, including Aces teammate Deja Kelly and Atlanta Dream’s Aaliyah Nye.

During the Twitch stream, Smith questioned why Carrington chose to publicize their private matters a year after their breakup. She stated, “Whether she cheated on me and I cheated on her, why are we bringing that to the internet a year later? That has nothing to do with anybody.” Smith expressed frustration over the situation, highlighting her confusion over the timing and reasoning behind the public airing of personal grievances.

Smith went further to defend Kelly and Nye, criticizing Carrington for involving them. “To bring up folks’ names that have nothing to do with anything is very weird,” Smith remarked.

“These folks is minding their business. They woke up to these allegations on a random Sunday night.”

The acrimonious feud began with an argument between Smith and Carrington, leading to security intervention during a public confrontation. Smith described the incident, explaining, “DiJonai started this by accusing me repeatedly during an argument.” Despite Smith’s attempts to defuse the situation, the dispute escalated, requiring security to separate the two.

Addressing online allegations about her presence at the venue, Smith clarified she did not arrive uninvited to monitor Carrington. She refuted claims saying, “I’m sitting on the couch, posting, minding my business. The narrative of me coming somewhere uninvited to spy is false.” Smith suggested that alcohol might have influenced Carrington’s actions during the incident.

Both players were former teammates at Baylor and are scheduled to meet on the court on August 1, when Carrington’s Chicago Sky will host Smith and the Las Vegas Aces.
