Pakistan, a mediator, indicated talks resuming Tuesday. However, Iran’s spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, denied any immediate plans for negotiations with the U.S.

The Strait of Hormuz Dispute

The waterway, vital for global oil and gas transport, is central to the conflict. Despite the interim agreement, Iran demands control over shipping routes.

“Any attempt to establish new or separate arrangements… will lead to further complications,” warned Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

A U.S. official announced that both countries are temporarily reducing tensions, allowing for vessel transit through the strait, yet traffic remains below pre-conflict levels.

Regional Tensions: Lebanon and Israel

Iran insists on Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon ahead of broader negotiations, yet Israel maintains a presence citing regional safety concerns.

Hezbollah, backed by Iran, opposes any arrangement linking disarmament to Israeli withdrawal. They continue to resist Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.
