Trump’s Approval Rating Reaches Five-Month High

1 week ago 0

President Donald Trump’s net approval has reached its highest in nearly five months, based on a recent RMG Research Poll, despite ongoing political challenges. The poll reveals Trump’s net approval at -6%, the best outcome since late February to early March, hinting at a shift in public perception despite turbulent politics.

Trump’s overall standing remains pressured by issues like the economy and inflation. Although his approval rating has somewhat improved, voters still express dissatisfaction with his economic management. Economic ratings in recent polls highlight weak confidence in his economic leadership.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle stated to Newsweek: “No other President in history has achieved more for the American people than President Trump, who tirelessly works to create jobs, cool inflation, increase housing affordability, and more. Historic progress has been made not only in America but globally, and this is just the beginning as his agenda continues taking effect.”

International tensions, particularly the ongoing war with Iran nearing five months, have shaped the political scene, keeping national security prominent in public focus. History shows that international crises can affect presidential approval ratings, yet polling on Iran remains negative, as noted by polling expert Nate Silver recently.

Affordability concerns persist as major parties prepare for the November midterm elections. The war has escalated national average gas prices above $4 per gallon, further straining household finances.

Current data displays a mixed view of the president’s standing. Whether this marks a sustained improvement or a temporary rebound depends on economic developments, inflation, and the war’s trajectory. This week, the White House announced new tariffs affecting imports from numerous countries, intended to combat forced labor and boost U.S. trade policy. Critics suggest these tariffs may increase consumer prices.

David Axelrod, former Barack Obama adviser, cautioned Republicans, stating on X: “Most folks watching would say the two most politically damaging decisions @POTUS made were tariffs and the war in Iran. Still pushing both, Republicans must be scratching their heads.”

The latest RMG Research poll indicates Trump’s approval at 46% and disapproval at 52%, surveyed between July 13 and July 21 among 2,000 registered voters, with a margin of error of ±2.2 percentage points.

An Economist/YouGov survey this week places Trump’s approval at 36% and disapproval at 60%, surveyed among 1,602 U.S. adults from July 17 to July 20, with a margin of error of ±3.3 percentage points.

A Fox News Poll this week shows Trump’s approval at 39% versus disapproval at 61%, surveyed from July 17 to July 20 among 1,003 registered voters, with a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.

An American Research Group poll shows Trump’s approval at 30%, disapproval at 67%, and 3% undecided, conducted from July 16 to July 20 among 1,100 U.S. adults, with a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
