Trump Weighs in on LeBron vs. Jordan Debate

President Donald Trump recently shared his opinion on a long-standing basketball debate: Who is better, LeBron James or Michael Jordan? Trump’s choice is straightforward. He supports Jordan.

Trump stated, “Michael Jordan is a guy that’s a friend of mine, play golf with him. He’s a really good guy. And I think LeBron is, maybe he’s a racist, but maybe he doesn’t like Trump, I don’t know. But I only like people that like me. So, I would say Michael Jordan all the way.” This statement was made at the Oval Office last Friday.

The debate arose after LeBron James announced his decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. ESPN reports James will ink a two-year, $8 million contract with the team.

Michael Jordan’s NBA career spanned 15 seasons. He captured six championships with the Chicago Bulls and retired twice during this period. After the Bulls won their first three titles, Jordan left basketball to play baseball in the 1993-94 season. He returned in the 1994-95 season, leading the Bulls to another three consecutive titles starting in the 1995-96 season. Jordan retired again for three years and later joined the Washington Wizards for two seasons.

Throughout his career, Jordan averaged 30.1 points per game, the highest in NBA history. His accolades include 6.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Recognized as a Basketball Hall of Famer, Jordan was named to 14 All-Star teams, earned five MVPs, and claimed the NBA Finals MVP award six times. He secured the scoring title ten times and made the All-Defensive Team nine times.

LeBron James, preparing for his 24th season, will mark his debut with the 76ers. James started his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, staying there for seven years. He moved to the Miami Heat, forming “The Big 3” with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. With the Heat, James won his first two out of four NBA championships during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. Returning to the Cavaliers, he led them to a championship in the 2015-16 season, famously coming back from a 3-1 series deficit against the Golden State Warriors. After this, James spent four seasons back in Cleveland before moving to the Los Angeles Lakers. With the Lakers, James won an NBA title in the 2019-20 season, achieved during the pandemic-induced Orlando bubble.

James stands as the NBA’s all-time leader in games played, total points, and both All-Star and All-NBA selections. He is the only player to surpass 43,000 career points and holds the record for most 30-point games in history, totaling 700. His individual honors include four MVP awards, 22 All-Star selections, 21 All-NBA selections, four Finals MVP awards, and six All-Defensive Team selections. Over his career, James records averages of 26.8 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Both Jordan and James boast impressive achievements, fueling one of sports’ most heated debates. Despite James’ ongoing illustrious career, Trump’s position is unmistakable: Michael Jordan holds his endorsement.
