Trump Adds Beni Rae Harmony to Communications Team Amid Photo Controversy

1 hour ago 0

Donald Trump has made a notable addition to his communications team, appointing Beni Rae Harmony as an assistant press secretary. The role of White House press secretary remains vacant following Karoline Leavitt’s departure in August. Harmony’s hiring has sparked debate, especially after a controversial holiday photo surfaced on social media.

Harmony’s Background and New Role

Beni Rae Harmony, a 24-year-old former journalist, announced her new position with the White House press team over the weekend. She is transitioning from her role as a senior correspondent for Real America’s Voice, a media outlet originally associated with Steve Bannon. Her LinkedIn profile notes previous experience as a press aide for Turning Point USA host Jack Posobiec and as a deputy press secretary for Republican Congressmen Paul Gosar and Matt Gaetz.

Before joining the White House, Harmony reported on Trump’s activities for Real America’s Voice, including coverage of his trip to Ireland. Her name was seen on a document held by Trump on Air Force One during the return trip. With over 77,000 Instagram followers, she often shared updates on her travels and reporting involving Trump.

Social Media Photo Controversy

Following the announcement of Harmony’s White House role, social media revived a 2021 photo of her wearing a provocative T-shirt that read “F*** Joe Biden,” accompanied by a rifle. This image was initially shared on Instagram by former Republican House candidate Jarome Bell. Harmony confirmed the picture’s authenticity and clarified her connection to the older relative in the image.

Her appointment comes at a turbulent time in Trump’s relations with the press. In September, Trump attempted to ban several media outlets from the White House, a decision temporarily blocked by a federal judge. Trump’s interactions with female journalists have also drawn significant attention and criticism.

In 2025, Harmony gained visibility in right-wing circles by delivering a emotional tribute to Charlie Kirk, crediting him as a mentor and encouraging figure. This incident led to claims of her suspension from NewsChannel 20 in Springfield, Illinois, which the news director later refuted by stating she was not suspended.
