Chicago’s lakeshore, near 31st Street Beach, saw bikers navigating the smoke-filled morning. This marked one of many areas dealing with reduced air quality.

Skyline and Transportation Affected

The Chicago skyline was difficult to view from Interstate 290, revealing the widespread impact of the haze. The sun’s view was also hindered by the dense smoke and cloud cover.

The city’s transit system was not immune. A CTA Green Line train traveled through hazy conditions on the West Side. This showed the extent of the smoke’s reach.

On the Kennedy Expressway, the Chicago skyline disappeared from view, even three miles away. This demonstrated the severity of the smoke’s effects.
