Tensions Escalate as Israeli Forces Maintain Occupation in Lebanon

Israeli forces remain stationed within a buffer zone in southern Lebanon as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Hezbollah’s infrastructure. This military presence has implemented restrictions reminiscent of those seen in the West Bank, sparking discussions in the region.

The situation unfolds in Naqoura, located in the southwestern tip of Lebanon. As vehicles travel along the coastal road, a display of various flags is visible, representing the region’s complex political alliances. The yellow and green of Hezbollah, the Iranian tricolor, followed by the blue and white of Israel can be seen as one approaches the border area.

In this tense environment, the Christian community continues to endure. The Rev. Hugues de Woillemont has expressed admiration for the Christians still residing in the area, stating they ‘are showing remarkable courage and determination’ in the face of adversity.
