Its official website noted that this illumination was “in celebration of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden.”
The Empire State Building also took to X to link the phrase “Her something blue” with the well-known wedding rhyme: “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”
Outside Madison Square Garden, large screens conveyed the heartfelt message “JUST&T MARRIED!” where “T&T” stood for Taylor and Travis.
The New York City Police Department ensured the area’s security by implementing street closures, barricades, and increased police presence around Madison Square Garden throughout the day. Despite these measures, dedicated fans gathered to witness the celebration, eager to catch a glimpse of the event.
Chloe Stanley, a tourist from the United Kingdom, shared her excitement by stating, “I couldn’t get tickets for the Eras Tour, so this is the closest I’ve been.”
Lindsay Perrin, who traveled with her children from Indianapolis, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “We drove 12 hours to be here for the celebrations. This is our royal wedding and just a moment that we didn’t want to miss.” She noted the trip was her idea and added, “These kids, they might not appreciate it now in the 100-degree heat, but I feel like they’ll say, ‘We were outside of Madison Square Garden during Taylor’s wedding,’ and that’s something they’ll talk about for years to come.”
Travelers like Hanna Daidal, who flew in from Europe at the last minute, also joined the festive occasion. “It was last minute on Friday. I just knew Taylor Swift was getting married, and on Sunday, I took a flight here,” she explained.
