Channing relocated to London right before the COVID pandemic hit. Her move was inspired by the loss of her partner of 25 years, producer Daniel Gillham, in 2014. In her essay for The Sunday Times, she disclosed, “I’ve lived alone since I lost Daniel and I’m happy being a recluse.” Her previous marriages represent different eras of her life.

The first “Practical Magic” debuted 28 years ago, and its sequel is set for release in September. Channing shares how the profound impact of Gillham’s death took time to manifest and influenced her decision to shift her life from Maine. Her mornings begin early, prompted by her dog at 7 a.m., followed by some exercise by 10 a.m., although she enjoys skipping workouts occasionally. She candidly admits, “My favorite exercise days are when I play hooky.” Lunch is her first meal, where she sometimes cooks ramen and shares it with her dog if it doesn’t turn out as expected.

Preparing to leave the house includes combing her hair, though she doesn’t boast a wardrobe of designer fashion. She humorously notes, “Though I do have them, they’re all from the Eighties and Nineties.” Channing reflects on self-perception in the acting world, acknowledging that while many actors care greatly about their appearance, she has never seen herself as conventionally beautiful.
