Spurs Get a Crucial Win at Madison Square Garden

2 weeks ago 0

Madison Square Garden was filled with excitement as New York hosted its first NBA Finals game since 1999. The New York Knicks had a 2-0 series lead against the San Antonio Spurs, who entered the game in desperate need of a win to avoid falling behind 3-0 in the series.

Spurs’ star player Victor Wembanyama delivered a remarkable performance. He scored 32 points, shooting 11-for-18 from the field, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out six assists, and added three blocks with two steals in their 115-111 victory on Monday night.

Wembanyama’s focus on victory was evident, although he accidentally skipped his postgame interview with Lisa Salters after the buzzer.

When he finally appeared for the interview, his height of 7-foot-4 became a source of amusement. The frame couldn’t fit both Wembanyama and Salters, highlighting the significant height difference. Fans quickly reacted online, commenting on the need for Salters to stand on a stool during such interviews.

Humor continued with remarks like “sis got her arm up like the statue of liberty and it’s still three feet below his mouth lololol,” and “The Statue of Liberty is interviewing Wemby Lol,” adding a light-hearted tone to the postgame proceedings.

Spurs point guard De’Aaron Fox also made himself known by interrupting the interview, urging Wembanyama to finish up, saying, “It’s midnight, man, let’s go!”

Fox previously spoke about Wembanyama’s commitment to his routine. He mentioned that Wembanyama avoids blue light after 9 p.m., reads books, and steers clear of his phone. After late-ending games, Wembanyama reportedly wears blue light glasses to prepare for recovery, underscoring his dedication.

Wembanyama’s focus and discipline will be crucial as the Spurs strive for the championship. Their victory in Game 3 broke the Knicks’ unbeaten streak since April 23. The next battle to tie the series is set for Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.
