Seaplane Crash in East River: Rescue Operations
A seaplane carrying eight people, including a pilot and a crew member, crashed into the East River near Manhattan’s waterfront. The incident occurred on Sunday, following the Fourth of July celebration.
The passengers, among them a 75-year-old woman and her 16-year-old granddaughter, were returning from a long weekend in the Hamptons when the accident took place.
Quick Rescue Efforts
The Fire Department swiftly rescued all aboard, alleviating potential injuries. Despite the scare, no one sustained serious harm, though the woman, Ada Todd, reported a headache and back pain.
Ms. Todd, familiar with seaplane travel, expressed gratitude for their survival. Her granddaughter, Khloe Todd, filmed the crash’s immediate aftermath on her cellphone.
Investigation and Incident Details
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash. It detailed that the 10-seat aircraft experienced a hard landing, leading to a snapped wing strut, a critical support piece attaching the wing to the fuselage.
