Savannah Guthrie Appeals for Help in Finding Missing Mother

On February 1, Savannah Guthrie, host of NBC’s ‘Today,’ reported her mother, Nancy Guthrie, missing. Nancy, aged 84, was last seen at her residence near Tucson, Arizona. Authorities assume she was taken from her home on January 31.

Amidst a demand for a bitcoin ransom from someone claiming to be the abductor, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have pledged to pay for their mother’s safe return. Savannah shared an urgent plea on Instagram, saying, “We received your message and we understand,” addressing the alleged kidnappers. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

Accompanied by her siblings Annie and Camron, Savannah made a solemn promise in a video message requesting their mother’s return. The video, secured from social media, was circulated on February 7, 2026.

“We are aware of the video posted by the Guthrie family. But don’t have any additional information to share,” said a spokesperson for Pima Sheriff to ABC News following the family’s video release.

The FBI and Pima Sheriff are currently assessing the legitimacy of the message that a Tucson TV station received, believed to be related to Nancy Guthrie’s case according to a source involved in the investigation. The authorities have not confirmed whether the message is genuine or if it is connected to the other ransom notes mentioning Nancy Guthrie.

Investigators have revisited the residences of Annie Guthrie, Nancy’s other daughter, where Nancy last spent time. They have also inspected Nancy’s home, examining surveillance footage and vehicles, and speaking with neighbors.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department stated, “This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” while emphasizing that despite over a week’s passing, “Investigators have not identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles connected to this case.”
